Lab Interpretation Bootcamp: Amino Acids and Vitamins (NEW)

Course Description

Lab Interpretation Bootcamp: Amino Acids and Vitamins (Part 2 – NEW Materials – No need to take Part 1 first!)

Chronic Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, Insulin Resistance, IBS

8 Weeks, Starting the week of October 25, 2021

In order to understand clinical lab evaluations, it’s essential to understand the basic mechanisms of what is being tested. We explore why amino acids are essential for life and their critical role in Chronic Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, Insulin Resistance and IBS. Next, we’ll gain an understanding of how vitamins interact with amino acids, and the essential components of those interactions in maintaining health.

  • Case-based learning format with a focus on Chronic Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, Insulin Resistance, IBS

  • Begin to prescribe amino acid supplements based on clear lab data and learn about the most common patterns of amino acid imbalances

  • Live calls with Dr. Dan Kalish at 4pm, PT: 10/27, 11/11, 11/17, 12/1 (all recorded and available to enrolled students)

  • Access to course materials for 12 months from the date of the first call (10 month BONUS)

Featured in this Bootcamp:

  • We are deeply honored to include lectures and curriculum materials from Dr. Richard Lord, the foremost expert on Laboratory Evaluation for Integrative and Functional Medicine.  For over 40 years, Dr. Lord has been actively involved in the development of new testing methodologies for assessing patient status of nutrients, toxicants, cell regulators and microbes, as well as in creating innovative laboratory report data displays. His contributions include customization of free-form amino acids for complex degenerative conditions, and introduction of biomarkers such as low-range homocysteine, elevated alpha-hydroxybutyrate, tricarballylate and D-lactate for routine clinical metabolic and intestinal dysbiosis evaluations.
  • Dr. Lord occupies a unique position in the field of functional and integrative medicine as a thought leader, and innovator in the fields of laboratory testing and education. Decades ago he literally “wrote the book” on lab testing, Laboratory Evaluations in Integrative and Functional Medicine, from which the first generation of functional medicine doctors learned the work.
  • Dr. Lord’s contributions also include the development of the industry’s most popular tests still in use today, including the first to analyze the microbiome, the GI Effects test from Genova. His work earlier in his career centered around uncovering the role genetics plays in human nutrition. To this end, he is the scientist that brought our field many test panels including organic acids, fatty acids, amino acids and individual nutrient assessments. We now call these labs “NutrEval” or “Organic Acids” or “ION” panels. Richard was the scientist at the bench who developed each of these. Additionally he has spent the last five decades educating physicians on the interpretation of these tests as they are applied to the treatment of patients.
